Kiplinger Program director Doug Haddix will present two social media sessions at this year’s national conference of Investigative Reporters and Editors in New Orleans.

See full details online about the IRE conference, including registration, speakers, hotel and schedule for the June 16-19 event.

More than 1,500 journalists from around the world are expected to attend the IRE conference. Haddix is a former national training director for IRE.

Haddix will offer two presentations:

  • Automate and turbocharge your social media, from 5-6 p.m. on Thursday, June 16. The hands-on session will walk participants through using the If This, Then That (IFTTT) service to connect and manage various social media posts and platforms. In addition, the group will learn how to curate content for social media channels using tools such as Buffer, Dlvr.it, Feedly and Scoop.It.
  • Social media on the map, from 9-10 a.m. on Friday, June 17. In this presentation, Haddix will focus on tools and apps that pinpoint public social media posts based on location, so that journalists can find witnesses and sources in particular places — anywhere around the world.
